Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering; or a combination of related education and relevant certifications.
  • Current Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) certification.
  • 2 years performing erosion and sediment control inspections.
  • Experience implementing SWPPPs for construction projects.
  • Valid California driver’s license and clean DMV record.
  • Ability to work both in the office and in the field, including outdoor conditions and occasional overnight travel.
  • Knowledge of California Construction General Permit requirements.
  • Understanding of erosion control, sediment control, and stormwater BMPs.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections in varying weather and terrain conditions.
  • Knowledge of stormwater regulations and BMP implementation.
  • Experience with construction site inspections and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to read grading plans, drainage plans, and SWPPP documents.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Organized and efficient, detail oriented, and skilled at multi-tasking.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and time management skills.
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Blue Beam, and Suite of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to make basic computations and to check plans, calculations, and specifications.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years performing construction inspections.
  • CISEC, CPESC, or related environmental/civil engineering credentials.
  • Experience with municipal stormwater permits (MS4 programs).
  • Knowledge of hydrology, drainage design, and TMDL compliance.
  • Experience using environmental compliance software, AutoCAD, GIS, or related field reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine stormwater inspections before, during, and after rain events.
  • Ensure compliance with the Construction General Permit (CGP), EPA and state stormwater regulations, and local municipal requirements.
  • Inspect erosion and sediment control BMPs for effectiveness.
  • Maintain required compliance documentation and inspection reports.
  • Prepare NAL exceedance reports.
  • Identify potential stormwater violations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train field crews on stormwater compliance procedures and BMP installation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor weather forecasts and prepare sites for storm events.
  • Attend onsite meetings with contractors and regulators.
