About The Position
As a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), you will assist with medication administration, inventory management, and the safe storage of pharmaceutical items. Working under close supervision, you will follow protocols and procedures and maintain accurate records. Attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety are essential to supporting the healthcare team in delivering quality care. The position is at Marion County Jail, 695 Justice Way, Indianapolis, Indiana, and requires insulin certification.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completed QMAP training and passed a competency evaluation in accordance with program requirements.
- Current CPR certification.
- Provide a QMAP ID number for online verification.
- Insulin certification is required.
- Must reside in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- One year of related experience in a medical environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications under RN supervision, following facility policies, Pharmacy Board regulations, and safety principles.
- Accurately document medication administration on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), including medications not administered and the reasons.
- Follow infection control techniques and universal precautions, and uphold the six rights of medication administration.
- Participate in data collection, medication audits, and performance improvement activities, and promptly report adverse reactions to supervisors.
- Keep the medication cart clean and organized, reorder and replace medications and supplies as needed, and maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
