About The Position

Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center is looking for Qualified Medication Aides (QMA's) to cultivate lifelong relationships in their 102-bed skilled nursing home and a 20-bed Alzheimer's unit. The facility aims to continue providing the best care to the residents of their community.

Requirements

  • Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
  • Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the State Department of Health.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of employment.
  • A high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician.
  • Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
  • Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy.
  • Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse.
  • Document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee.
