About The Position

The Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) administers oral and external medications to residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical/vocational nurse. The role follows established procedures and company policies, as well as applicable state and federal regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or experience as required by state regulations.
• Successful completion of a state-approved course and approval to administer oral and external medication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications to residents following established procedures.
• Verify the identity of each resident receiving medication and record the drug name, dosage, and administration time on specified forms or records.
• Consult with an appropriate licensed practitioner to clarify any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, ineffective, or contraindicated.
• Notify a supervisor when deciding not to administer a medication.
• Take and record vital signs upon medication administration when required.
• Order and reorder medications and return discharge medications for credit in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly medication room and cart.
• Take appropriate precautions to prevent residents or patients from accessing medications other than those prescribed to them.
• Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
