About The Position

Austin Bridge & Road has an exciting opportunity for a QCQA Technician I to join our team in the DFW area. This role ensures compliance with quality control and quality assurance standards on construction materials and processes, supporting project teams and promoting safety across all operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in construction materials testing, familiarity with industry standards, and a commitment to delivering quality in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Heavy civil construction experience
  • Experience pulling 10 foot trailer
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and testing procedures
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using computers and QCQA software for reporting and data management
  • Be able to work night shifts and weekends as needed

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is preferred
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
  • NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Asphalt, or Concrete)
  • TxAPA or TxDOT certifications in asphalt, soils, or aggregates testing is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Able to help place quality Asphalt and achieve passing results in a challenging environment
  • Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials (e.g., asphalt, concrete, soil, aggregates) following applicable standards (ASTM, AASHTO, TxDOT)
  • Review project specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Monitor and document field operations for adherence to quality standards and safety protocols
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed test reports, inspection records, and documentation
  • Identify and report non-compliance issues, assisting in corrective action implementation
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results
  • Work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to address quality concerns and provide technical support
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as needed
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and promote a culture of safety awareness
