About The Position

This position is responsible for providing professional quality service and processing support involving quality, in-process quality and customer service. Supports NAS total quality program to improve customer requirements. The QC Tech Rep will be involved in all or a portion of the Essential Job Functions. QC Tech Reps support both the Flat Products Group and the Long Products Group.

Requirements

  • High School Degree
  • Experience in the steel industry/exposure to steel processing
  • Mobility in plant
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
  • Frequently required to make use of hands for technical tasks
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual ability with or without correction
  • Communication abilities
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
  • Follow Company safety rules
  • Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn: Safety shoes, Safety glasses, Hearing protection, Hard Hat
  • Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as: Respirators (requires being clean shaven), Fire Retardant clothing, Acid PPE
  • Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
  • Follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
  • Follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Abiding by the Acerinox Code of Conduct
  • Keeping oneself informed through company email account
  • Maintaining Dynamic Policy Profile and all assigned learnings therein
  • Abiding by all security procedures

Responsibilities

  • Customer claims or complaints received from customer field or Inside Sales to be reviewed, analyzed and dispositioned in a timely manner.
  • Scheduling and completing customer visits before material disposition to prevent delays, and follow up and dispositioning of returning material.
  • Disposition of material after finishing a process to ensure continuous material flow with limited interruptions.
  • Generating internal quality reports for QC in general, including month-end reports and analysis.
  • Assisting the QC Supervisor in maintaining the Quality System for ISO considerations.
  • Assisting the QC Engineers in fielding requests for Metallurgical Test Certificates and monitoring requests for special specifications.
  • Fielding general customer calls and forwarding technical issues to QC Engineers.
  • Assisting in maintaining and updating customer specifications to current revisions.
  • Relaying customer information to, and working with Operations and Inspection on customer issues.
  • Gathering information from customer visits to update/research current orders for mentioned applications and requirements.
  • Routine visits to customers and their processing facilities.
  • Managing and reporting on the status of special in-house projects.
  • Supporting NAS Warehouses through claim evaluation, coordination, and quality support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
