About The Position

The QC Shipping Associate is responsible for ensuring that all outbound fruit—primarily apples, cherries, and apricots—meets company and customer quality standards. This role requires strong communication skills, accuracy in documentation, the ability to identify fruit defects, and readiness to work in a cold-temperature environment. The individual will work closely with the shipping team to support efficient and error-free order fulfillment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent required
  • Prior administrative or clerical experience preferred; HR experience a plus
  • Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail
  • Comfortable handling a high volume of phone calls
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for handling, grasping, typing, operating tools, equipment, or office machinery
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 15–25 pounds, with or without assistance, depending on position requirements
  • Ability to see, read, and interpret written materials, screens, and visual information at close and moderate distances
  • Ability to hear, understand, and respond to verbal communication in person, by phone, or through other communication devices
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, as required by the role
  • Ability to maintain focus and perform tasks accurately in environments that may include noise, interruptions, or varying activity levels

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience in fruit packing, shipping, or quality control.
  • Knowledge of apple, cherry, and apricot varieties, grades, and defect categories.
  • Experience with customer-specific programs and shipping processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control inspections on apples, cherries, apricots, and other fruit according to company and customer specifications.
  • Identify, understand, and document fruit defects based on established QC standards.
  • Verify all information on customer orders, including grades, counts, labels, sizes, and special requirements.
  • Monitor and record cherry temperatures regularly to ensure compliance with cooling and food safety requirements.
  • Utilize computers, tablets, and digital systems to record data, verify orders, and support shipping operations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, forklift drivers, and shipping staff regarding quality issues or order discrepancies.
  • Assist in maintaining workflow efficiency and provide support to the shipping team when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment consistent with food safety and company policies.
