About The Position

ASRC Federal Cyber is seeking an Information Quality Control/Safety specialist at Delta Junction, Alaska. This role involves conducting recurring safety inspections, investigating OSHA reports, ensuring fire safety systems are operational, inspecting fire extinguishers and PPE, performing industrial safety evaluations, researching and recommending PPE, identifying and mitigating unsafe acts or conditions, developing training curricula, investigating workplace accidents, developing and reviewing safety procedures, monitoring and recommending improvements to safety programs, and maintaining a library of safety publications. The position also requires planning and coordinating work activities, understanding and following company policies, performing administrative duties, and handling customer and employee interactions professionally.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of related work experience
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in the English language
  • Commitment to providing for and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Demonstrated experience in quality control, job safety and hazardous materials handling
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and providing instruction in occupational health and safety
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting facilities and individuals performing tasks
  • Identifying, developing and mitigating job site hazards in remote arctic environments
  • Problem-solving and interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers and customer representatives
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both in a team and individually

Nice To Haves

  • Current Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification preferred
  • Ability to acquire Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification within the first year of start (individual responsible for initial costs)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct recurring safety inspections at GFORCE sites to identify potential safety hazards and evaluate the use of written instructions.
  • Receive, review, and investigate Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports of violations, validate references, verify accuracy, determine imminent danger, and recommend actions.
  • Ensure annual and special technical inspections of each site’s fire alarm and suppression system are conducted.
  • Provide technical assistance to site staffs on fire prevention and protection matters and evaluate the effectiveness of fire prevention programs.
  • Inspect all fire extinguishers and establish maintenance, replacement, or recharging schedules, and maintain historical records of fire suppression systems.
  • Inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) according to prescribed schedules and conduct respirator fit tests as necessary.
  • Perform industrial safety evaluations relating to noise, heating and ventilation, and chemical hazards.
  • Research and evaluate PPE and recommend corrective actions to management.
  • Identify any unsafe acts or conditions and develop and establish suitable corrective measures to manage risks.
  • Research and develop occupational safety and health, and fire safety training curricula.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and occupational exposures to biological and chemical agents; identify causes, arrange for testing, identify sources of hazardous materials, and report facts and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and review written procedures pertaining to occupational safety and health, and fire safety.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvements to the project’s occupational safety and health programs.
  • Assist management in establishing realistic and achievable safety objectives compliant with programs and regulations.
  • Review work procedures and preventive maintenance instructions annually to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Maintain a current library of publications pertinent to occupational safety and health and fire safety.
  • Plan and coordinate work activities with other GFORCE employees, site staffs, and departments.
  • Understand and follow GFORCE Operating Instructions, Administrative Instructions, Operations and Maintenance Procedures, Task Orders, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform administrative duties and maintain assigned workplace, materials, and equipment in a safe, secure, and neat condition.
  • Handle interactions with the customer and Company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
