QC - Lumber Grader Inspector

About The Position
Clendenin Lumber Co., part of The Baillie Group, is seeking a Quality Control Inspector for its kiln-dried hardwood lumber operation. The inspector examines hardwood lumber according to NHLA grading standards and proprietary customer requirements and releases products that meet industry and customer expectations. Training is completed in-house.
Requirements
- Previous experience in production quality inspection.
- Strong communication skills and familiarity with a team-based environment.
- Self-motivated and organized.
- Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
- Basic computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Learn general and species-specific aspects of inspecting hardwood lumber.
- Work with a team of 3–4 lumber inspectors.
- Conduct live production audits and record quality findings.
- Stop production activities when product does not meet industry or customer specifications.
- Follow plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with downstream packaging requirements.
- Assist with production setup procedures.
- Assist with yard projects as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
