About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring product quality meets customer standards. The QC Line Inspector will monitor and record product weights, check color, odor, and texture, perform seal integrity checks and burst testing, and verify product code and fill temperature. The role also involves completing tear downs for seamer heads, notifying supervisors of any out-of-specification measurements, and filling out required documentation. The inspector will record information on Quality log sheets and input data into the Quality control computer. Additionally, the position requires active participation as a team member, contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies, and fostering cohesiveness. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and a commitment to supporting these systems are essential. The role may involve other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college and/or Tech School.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of the product is up to customer standards, including: Product weights to be monitored and recorded, Checking color, odor and texture, Checking seal integrity and performing burst testing, Product code, fill temperature, and quality checks.
  • Complete tear downs for each seamer head on the running seamer.
  • Notify supervisor of any out of specification measurements after recheck is confirmed. Fill out documentation as required.
  • Record information on the Quality log sheets & input all data in the Quality control computer at the QC station for further review.
  • Participates as a member of the team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Simmons operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
