About The Position

The QC Inspector is responsible for performing various inspection duties to ensure product quality and compliance with customer and company requirements. This includes receiving, in-process, outsourcing, and final inspections. The role involves validating documentation, performing visual and physical inspections, using precision measuring devices, documenting discrepancies, and taking corrective actions. The QC Inspector also plays a role in driving quality and process repeatability, implementing mistake-proofing methods, and assisting with non-conforming product disposition. Additionally, the role involves training lesser-skilled employees and communicating effectively with supporting departments and supervisors to ensure customer expectations are met.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Open shipping containers and validate packing slips to product received.
  • Perform contract review, read and interpret customer and flow down requirements.
  • Assign tracking numbers, job and lot numbers, and job travelers.
  • Verify part count and perform visual inspection on each component.
  • Document incoming discrepancies and take appropriate actions to correct non-conformities.
  • Work to the production schedule and release components in accordance with the delivery plan.
  • Perform in-process and outsourcing inspections to meet delivery dates.
  • Perform in-process inspection checks in accordance with routing instructions, ensuring compliance to technical data, customer, and specification requirements.
  • Audit routing, validating prior operations and verifying component compliance with quality requirements.
  • Assist production personnel in solving quality issues and concerns.
  • Assure vendors are active and on the approved vendor list.
  • Create purchase orders for spot operations and route components for processing.
  • File both incoming and outgoing documentation.
  • Review incoming certifications from outside processors, ensuring purchased items and services conform to contract and specification requirements.
  • Record observations and make recommendations for improving the process.
  • Perform final inspections to meet delivery dates.
  • Inspect for completion of all manufacturing processes.
  • Measure components using precision measuring devices (micrometer, dial caliper, etc.) when necessary.
  • Ensure components comply with specification and customer requirements.
  • Validate lab results.
  • Verify part count, serial numbers, and lot number control.
  • Part mark components.
  • Complete internal paperwork and validate accurate documentation for each process.
  • Complete certification of compliance.
  • Package product in accordance with customer and Chromalloy requirements.
  • Drive quality and process repeatability.
  • Implement mistake-proofing methods.
  • Work with supporting departments (Quality, Engineering) to create inspection methods and ensure correlation between in-process measurement techniques and quality inspection methods.
  • Assist in the disposition of non-conforming product and propose solutions to eliminate defects.
  • Initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Evaluate reject data, separate process defects from training issues, and communicate training needs to the shop supervisor.
  • Communicate scheduling constraints to the department supervisor and production planner.
  • Train lesser-skilled employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
