About The Position

This position will report to the Supervisor and is a Full-Time Regular, Non-Exempt role on the 3rd shift. The QA/QC Technician will carry out quality analysis and control for the production of shortcut, cello, food service, and frozen production with limited supervision. Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a leader in carrot production, serving as a grower, packer, processor, and shipper, headquartered in Bakersfield, California. With a history since 1915, they are one of North America's largest growers and distributors of fresh carrots and supply premium natural ingredients for the food and beverage industry. Requirements

  • Must be self-motivated and can perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to communicate in English including writing, speaking and reading
  • Must be teamwork oriented, communicate and interact well with others
  • Utilize Bolthouse Fresh Foods standard operating procedures to prepare and/or analyze various parameters including good laboratory practices and aseptic techniques
  • Ability to taste and evaluate finished products
  • Ability to differentiate colors to examine product quality difference
  • Dependable and can work flexible hours including weekends
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Reasonable Spanish desired but not mandatory
  • 1-2 years’ experience in food manufacturing or food production preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related experience and or/training
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Daily audits of production procedures including; verification of code dates, scales, water levels, plant GMP’s, and documentation
  • Sample collection, operation of scales, data entry
  • Grading defects of carrots
  • Analytical testing of raw and finished products as well as processing water and equipment
  • Examine product retain shelf life samples; aid manager in evaluation of shelf life data
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain equipment routinely
  • Collect and ship sales sample requests
  • Complete certificate of analysis (COA’s) per customer requests
  • Compare test results to quality specifications and limits, notify quality and production manager when results are out of specification
  • Careful and neat work habits and willingness to perform more modest tasks (cleaning working area and tools, ordering supplies etc.)
  • Perform, after sanitation pre-operational inspection
  • Perform swabbing (ATP, allergen, microbiological) of plant equipment and buildings
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
