About The Position

The QC Inspector-Structural position involves ensuring that all HPSI safety procedures, rules, and regulations are followed and met. This role requires performing inspections (which may include NDE) and witnessing tests as per Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures and specifications. The inspector will be responsible for preparing reports and quality records, coordinating QC work with other departments, and finalizing remedies for any issues with the class society. Additionally, the role involves inspecting parts for dimensional accuracy and functionality, performing incoming material inspections, and other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 2 years’ related experience in discipline or 5 years’ professional welding experience
• Knowledge of testing/inspection equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints a must
• Ability to communicate with Production team, Owner, & Class Society representatives
• Basic computer skills required

Nice To Haves

• AWS CWI Certification or equivalent preferred
• Knowledge of shipbuilding a plus
• Knowledge of ABS and DNV rules a plus
• Knowledge of NDE Testing processes (ASNT Certification preferred)
• Knowledge of Microsoft a plus (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
• Perform inspections (may include NDE) and witness tests as required by Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures and specifications.
• Prepare reports and quality records in compliance with Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures.
• Coordinate areas of QC work with other departments as required, i.e. start-up, engineering, outfitting, etc.
• Finalize with class on remedies to fix any issues.
• Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and working functionality per Hanwha Philly Shipyard requirements.
• Perform incoming inspections on material for work in conjunction with material control staff as required.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
