About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a QC Engineer/Specialist opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role is for a multi-year construction project involving significant civil and mechanical construction, including grading, storm drainage, demolition, earthwork, duct banks, service water, process piping, and associated site infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Five (5) + years of quality control, construction inspection, or related industrial construction experience.
  • Experience with civil, sitework, underground utilities, infrastructure, or similar construction.
  • Knowledge of grading, excavation, earthwork, backfill, compaction, drainage, and underground construction.
  • Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 and DOE Order 414.1D.
  • Experience working within a formal QA/QC or Quality Management System.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, procedures, work packages, and inspection requirements.
  • Experience in performing field inspections and maintaining auditable quality records.
  • Knowledge of soil, aggregate, fill, compaction, and field-testing methods.
  • Experience with ITPs, hold/witness points, NCRs, corrective actions, and turnover documentation.
  • Experience identifying and documenting nonconforming conditions and CAQs.
  • Ability to perform field inspections in active construction areas and access uneven terrain, excavations, and underground utility work.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality, or related technical field.
  • DOE, nuclear, or other highly regulated industrial construction experience.
  • Construction inspection, soils, concrete, or materials testing certifications.
  • Borrow pit operations, material classification, sampling, Proctor, density, gradation, and materials acceptance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Verify construction activities comply with QMS, ASME NQA-1, DOE 414.1D, and project quality requirements.
  • Inspect grading, excavation, subgrade, fill, backfill, compaction, drainage, demolition, and civil work.
  • Verify elevations, slopes, excavation limits, bedding, lift thickness, moisture, and compaction.
  • Witness field testing for soil density, moisture, compaction, aggregates, and materials.
  • Review inspection and test results against approved acceptance criteria.
  • Verify materials are approved, identified, and documented before use.
  • Inspect storm drainage piping, structures, bedding, and backfill.
  • Verify interfaces with utilities, duct banks, piping, structures, and existing facilities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, work packages, ITPs, and quality requirements.
  • Perform and document hold-point and witness-point inspections.
  • Identify and document nonconforming work, CAQs, and quality issues.
  • Support NCRs, corrective actions, and resolution of quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate, traceable inspection reports, test records, and quality documentation.
  • Support walkdowns, punch lists, turnover inspections, surveillances, and audits.
  • Coordinate inspections with Construction, Engineering, subcontractors, testing agencies, and Quality.
  • Escalate significant quality concerns and SCAQs per project procedures.
