About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a QC Engineer (Ductbank) opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role is for a multi-year construction project involving significant civil and mechanical construction, including grading, storm drainage, demolition, earthwork, ductbanks, service water, process piping, and associated site infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Five (5) + years of quality control, construction inspection, or related industrial construction experience.
  • Experience with ductbank, electrical infrastructure, civil/sitework, or similar construction.
  • Working knowledge of ductbank, conduit, reinforcing steel, concrete encasement, excavation, backfill, and site interfaces.
  • Knowledge of ASME NQA-1 and DOE Order 414.1D quality requirements.
  • Ability to interpret civil/electrical drawings, specifications, procedures, work packages, and inspection requirements.
  • Experience with field inspections and auditable construction quality records.
  • Experience with ITPs, hold/witness points, NCRs, corrective actions, and turnover documentation.
  • Ability to perform field inspections in an active construction environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality, or related technical field.
  • Relevant concrete, soils, electrical, or construction inspection certifications.
  • DOE, nuclear, or highly regulated industrial construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field quality control inspections for electrical ductbank and associated civil construction activities.
  • Verify construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, the project Quality Management System (QMS), applicable ASME NQA-1 requirements, DOE Order 414.1D, and project-specific quality requirements.
  • Inspect ductbank excavation, subgrade, bedding, conduit installation, conduit spacing and alignment, reinforcing steel, grounding components, concrete encasement, backfill, and associated structures.
  • Verify conduit size, type, routing, elevations, bends, spacing, supports, terminations, and installation configuration against approved construction documents.
  • Inspect reinforcing steel, embeds, grounding components, forms, and other items prior to concrete placement.
  • Verify required pre-placement inspections, hold points, and witness points are completed prior to concrete placement or concealment of work.
  • Witness and/or verify required concrete testing, placement, curing, and associated inspection documentation.
  • Verify ductbank interfaces with manholes, handholes, structures, electrical equipment, site infrastructure, and other construction disciplines.
  • Review drawings, specifications, work packages, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality documentation to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Verify materials are approved, properly identified, and documented prior to installation.
  • Identify and document nonconforming work, Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQs), and other quality issues.
  • Initiate and/or support NCRs, corrective actions, and resolution of identified quality issues.
