About The Position

Carrier Global Corporation is seeking a Test Lab Engineer to build, configure, and maintain building automation test rigs and systems for developers and test and integration (T&I) engineers. The role applies field experience with Automated Logic (ALC) products and controls wiring to create reliable test environments that reflect real-world installations. Working with engineering teams, the engineer prepares hardware, wiring, networks, and system configurations for development, integration, and troubleshooting. This is an entry-level engineering role requiring hands-on ALC field experience; no college degree is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of field experience installing, configuring, commissioning, or troubleshooting building automation systems (BAS).
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ALC products, including WebCTRL and ALC controllers.
  • Experience assembling controls panels, test benches, or demonstration systems.
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment operation and translating field installations into representative lab setups.
  • Experience configuring BACnet networks and troubleshooting building automation communications.
  • Experience maintaining WebCTRL databases, system backups, and multiple controller or firmware configurations.
  • Experience documenting panel layouts, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, or lab setup instructions.
  • Exposure to engineering lab support, issue-tracking tools, or basic scripts used to configure and restore test systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and modify test rigs and systems using ALC controllers, sensors, actuators, and related building automation equipment to meet developer and T&I engineering requirements.
  • Assemble, wire, label, and inspect controls panels and test fixtures using approved drawings, wiring diagrams, and lab safety procedures.
  • Install and configure WebCTRL, controller firmware, network connections, and system databases to support requested test environments.
  • Verify wiring, controller communications, input/output operation, and basic system readiness before handing test rigs over to developers and T&I engineers.
  • Troubleshoot test-rig hardware, wiring, and connectivity issues; help engineering teams reproduce field configurations and reported problems.
  • Maintain wiring diagrams, equipment inventories, configuration records, and setup instructions so test systems can be reused and restored consistently.
  • Coordinate test-rig requirements, equipment availability, build priorities, and readiness with developers and T&I engineers.
  • Maintain an organized lab and follow electrical safety, equipment-handling, and electrostatic discharge procedures; perform only work covered by training and authorization.
