About The Position

The QA Technician's primary responsibilities include raw material/finished product testing, monitoring, and verification of in-process inspections. This role performs a variety of standard microbial, chemical, analytical, and physical or sensory testing. Responsibilities also include maintaining logs and records associated with job functions, such as non-conforming materials, corrective action logs, extended run logs, environmental results logs, and finished product microbial logs. The technician must comply with the company Quality Policy, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety requirements, ensuring high standards of product quality, services, housekeeping, and hygiene. They will escalate quality or food safety findings to management, communicate information to peers and management, and support quality improvement initiatives. The role involves verifying QA checks, HTST charts, and paperwork completion, providing front-line support to operations, responding to issues, and collecting pertinent information. Additionally, the technician will assist with line inspections after sanitation, table inspections, placing 'Out of specification' material on hold in the JDE system, and supporting the execution of GMPs and safety rules. Other duties include performing Line Quality Auditor duties, training personnel on HACCP checks, supporting the warehouse with inspections and sensory evaluations, picking up retention samples, and releasing pallets in JDE. The technician will attend production meetings to report QA findings and offer support.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform raw material/finished product testing, monitoring, and verification of in-process inspections.
  • Conduct standard microbial, chemical, analytical, and physical or sensory testing.
  • Maintain logs and records for non-conforming materials, corrective actions, extended runs, environmental results, and finished product microbial counts.
  • Comply with and execute the company Quality Policy, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety requirements.
  • Ensure high standards of product quality, services, housekeeping, and hygiene.
  • Escalate quality or food safety findings or incidents to management.
  • Communicate information to peers, cross-functional teams, and management.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives within the factory.
  • Verify QA checks, HTST charts, and paperwork completion across all factory lines.
  • Provide front-line support for operations, responding timely to issues on the factory floor.
  • Collect pertinent information and escalate to the QA team/supervision through Q-Alerts.
  • Assist with line inspections after sanitation and table inspections when needed.
  • Place 'Out of specification' material and/or product on quality hold in the JDE system.
  • Communicate quality holds with relevant production and quality personnel.
  • Support the execution of GMPs throughout the manufacturing plant and follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform Line Quality Auditor duties as defined by the Quality Supervisor, including line-specific GMP Audits, DMAs, and other checks.
  • Train MOPs, KOPs, warehouse personnel, and Mix Makers on HACCP checks when needed.
  • Support the warehouse with pallet and trailer inspection and sensory evaluation of materials.
  • Pick up retention samples as defined by the standard.
  • Release pallets in JDE for RDC, warehouse, and release MT on QA hold when safe to release.
  • Attend production meetings to report any QA findings and offer support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
