About The Position

This role involves testing and conducting routine and non-routine analysis of materials, in-process, and finished products using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality. The position requires the ability to perform QA checks on any production line, test and inspect products at various stages, and compile/evaluate statistical data. The individual will perform analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment, conduct calculations, and collect/record results to maintain product quality records. This role also involves assisting in the implementation of total quality management programs and training others. As a team member, the individual will participate in the development and communication of team concepts, programs, and policies, coordinating work to ensure best practices. They will also be familiar with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand their role in supporting these systems, including the impact of individual actions and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Other duties as necessary in support of business objectives may be assigned.

Requirements

Standing on feet for entire shift
Bending at waist
Uses both hands
Walking
Lift up to 55 lbs.
Must be able to tolerate temperatures above 100º or below 32º at any given time.
Must be able to work in a wet, cold environment where walking surfaces are slippery.
Personal safety is a must for this area.
Use of hair net(s), hearing protection, and gloves, apron, sleeve guards (if required), mesh gloves (if using knife or scissors) and smock.

Responsibilities

Perform QA checks on any production line in the facility.
Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process.
Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain product quality and reliability.
Perform analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment.
Perform calculations to measure factors and test product to verify factors.
Collect and record results of sampling and testing to maintain a record of product quality.
Collect, measure, and weigh samples of materials.
Assist in implementing a total quality management program and/or train others on total quality management.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding major issues.
Familiarize oneself with Simmons’ established operating systems and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity and the position’s role in support of these systems.
Communicate concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
