About The Position

Tests and conducts routine and non-routine analysis of materials, in-process, and finished product, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality. This role involves performing QA checks on any production line, testing and inspecting products at various stages, and compiling statistical data to ensure product quality and reliability. The position also includes performing analytical tests, collecting and recording results, and assisting in the implementation and training of total quality management programs. Teamwork and adherence to Simmons Operating Systems principles are essential.

Requirements

  • Standing on feet for entire shift.
  • Bending at waist.
  • Uses both hands.
  • Walking.
  • Lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures above 100º or below 32º at any given time.
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment where walking surfaces are slippery.
  • Personal safety is a must for this area.
  • Use of hair net(s), hearing protection, and gloves.
  • Use of apron, sleeve guards (if required), mesh gloves (if using knife or scissors) and smock.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).

Responsibilities

  • Perform QA checks on any production line in the facility.
  • Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process.
  • Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain product quality and reliability.
  • Perform analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment.
  • Perform calculations to measure factors and test product to verify factors.
  • Collect and record results of sampling and testing to maintain a record of product quality.
  • Collect, measure, and weigh samples of materials.
  • Assist in implementing a total quality management program and/or train others on total quality management.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and coordinating work to ensure best practices.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team to resolve issues.
  • Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and this position’s role in support of these systems.
  • Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
