About The Position

This role focuses on ensuring quality within data center operations, emphasizing safety, adherence to quality management systems, and continuous improvement. The specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to implement and monitor quality standards, conduct inspections, train personnel, and contribute to technical documentation. The position involves working in diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor construction sites, and requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • ≥2 years field experience installing and testing fiber.
  • Structured cabling and/or Data Center cabling experience.
  • Proven work experience in Infrastructure deployment.
  • Ability to implement and monitor a Quality Management System.
  • Strong communication, coaching and collaborative skills.
  • Demonstrate analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to add value, contribute and actively participate as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism with ability to engage effectively to build rapport with internal customers, program representatives and others.
  • Ability to effectively coach, influence and encourage others in quality topics.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred professional certifications: OSHA 30-Hour certification (if not certified at time of hire, certifications must be obtained within six (6) months of employment).
  • CommScope certifications and/or BICSI certifications (i.e., IN225, IN250, TE350).
  • Experienced in training technicians and quality standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Safe Work Practices and client worksite policies to ensure team safety.
  • Promote company Core Values to foster and safeguard Company culture.
  • Collaborate with program representatives to incorporate quality expectations into the Black Box QMS.
  • Engage and influence operational personnel to comply with installation specifications in the Black Box QMS.
  • Conduct formal Gemba walks to review Work in Progress (WIP) and completed scopes of work.
  • Share and promote technical knowledge and skills with internal customers.
  • Contribute to the development of QA tools that promote quality awareness.
  • Partner with field staff for the implementation of Innovation, Lessons Learned, Right First Time, and Standards quality elements.
  • Coordinate and conduct WIP quality inspections prioritized by production status and risk management.
  • Train and coach internal employees to integrate quality awareness into daily activities.
  • Partner for the development of installation and technical standards, procedures, inspections, and reporting documents.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities and support Lean initiatives.
  • Issue, record, monitor, and close nonconformance reports.
  • Participate in GC and client quality programs.
  • Trend data to identify recurring issues.
  • Conduct corrective action(s) verification audits for non-conforming observations.
  • Participate and contribute to structured problem-solving to determine root cause and effective countermeasures.
  • Network across the QA organization for best practices and learnings.
  • Verify materials meet design specifications.
  • Verify site as-built design documentation is accessible and sourced by field staff.
  • Ensure rapid responses to high priority nonconformances and resolution activities.
  • Facilitate realization of project pipeline planning related to data center build.
  • Serve as a technical resource in the field for Black Box structured cabling standards, installation standards, build specifications, and industry standards.
