About The Position

Workover Solutions is seeking an experienced QA/QC quality inspector and machinist for its Imperial, Pennsylvania facility. This hands-on, shop-floor quality role supports machining, repair, and assembly operations by verifying that components conform to engineering drawings, work-order requirements, applicable specifications, and company quality procedures. The role requires practical machining experience alongside strong inspection and documentation skills, including the ability to recognize machining problems, inspect complex features, maintain material traceability, document nonconformances, and communicate findings clearly to machinists and shop leadership. Limited machining, rework, or verification operations may be performed when required. The position performs receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections; verifies dimensions, threads, surface finishes, materials, documentation, and traceability; and helps identify and address quality issues. It also supports calibration and gauge control, nonconformance and corrective-action processes, and compliance with applicable ISO and API QHSE requirements, approved work methods, regulations, and company procedures. Machining support may include setting up and operating manual equipment for inspection verification, controlled rework, or other support, subject to approved requirements. This is a full-time, shop-based position at the Imperial, Pennsylvania facility. The work environment includes regular exposure to machine tools, cutting fluids, metal chips, lifting equipment, noise, and normal industrial shop conditions. Applicable personal protective equipment is required. The role may require extended standing and safely lifting, positioning, or inspecting machined components using appropriate material-handling equipment. Schedule, overtime expectations, compensation, and benefits will be communicated during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Practical experience as a machinist, machining inspector, quality technician, or in a similar manufacturing position.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting turned, bored, milled, drilled, and threaded features.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and revision information.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Proficiency using standard precision measuring instruments and fixed-limit gauges.
  • Ability to inspect work independently and accurately document actual measurement results.
  • Ability to distinguish normal process variation from tool wear, setup error, equipment problems, or operator error.
  • Working knowledge of material identification, lot control, and manufacturing traceability.
  • Ability to communicate nonconformances professionally and objectively using documented requirements and inspection results.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inspection, calibration, and quality records.
  • Basic computer skills for entering inspection results and completing electronic quality documentation.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work safely with limited supervision.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and the relationship between workholding, tooling, machine condition, and dimensional results.
  • Sound judgment in selecting inspection methods and gauges and assessing measurement repeatability and environmental influences.
  • Ability to prioritize critical inspections while supporting production schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, operators, supervisors, engineering personnel, and management.
  • Willingness to challenge questionable results, drawing conflicts, or undocumented acceptance decisions before product release.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience inspecting oilfield, workover, drilling, or downhole tool components.
  • Experience with API thread forms, rotary-shouldered connections, or other oilfield-related threads.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, API Spec Q1, or comparable manufacturing quality-management systems.
  • Experience inspecting repaired or previously used components where wear, damage, and remaining material must be evaluated.
  • Working knowledge of manual lathe and mill setup and operation.
  • Experience with CMMs, optical comparators, profilometers, hardness testers, or portable surface-measurement equipment.
  • Experience preparing nonconformance reports and supporting root-cause and corrective-action investigations.
  • Familiarity with calibration systems and measurement-system control.
  • Experience machining and inspecting alloy steels, heat-treated materials, stainless steels, and other difficult-to-machine materials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of machined and repaired components.
  • Inspect parts against engineering drawings, work orders, dimensional tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and applicable customer specifications.
  • Use applicable precision measuring and inspection equipment to verify components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, revision levels, machining symbols, and inspection requirements.
  • Inspect internal and external threads using applicable thread inspection methods.
  • Inspect downhole tool components during make-up, break-down, repair, and rework activities.
  • Confirm correct materials, drawing revisions, work orders, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria before accepting product.
  • Monitor manufacturing and inspection processes for dimensional drift, tool wear, setup problems, surface-finish defects, and other quality concerns.
  • Conduct product and process inspections consistent with established shop responsibilities.
  • Verify machinists and operators complete required in-process checks and inspection records.
  • Review travelers, inspection reports, material certifications, heat-treatment records, and traceability documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain positive identification and traceability of raw material, work-in-process, repair components, and finished products.
  • Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming material or product to prevent unintended use.
  • Initiate nonconformance reports and provide measurements, photographs, and supporting information.
  • Verify completed rework before releasing components to the next operation.
  • Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions by providing inspection data and practical machining input.
  • Provide feedback to machinists and the Shop Manager on dimensional trends, recurring defects, tooling problems, and process concerns.
  • Complete inspection and reporting requirements accurately and on time.
  • Verify measuring and test equipment is within its calibration period before use; maintain equipment in serviceable condition and report damaged, inaccurate, or overdue equipment.
  • Support calibration tracking, gauge-control activities, and periodic verification of shop-floor measuring equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ISO and API QHSE requirements, approved work methods, company procedures, regulations, and company and industry standards.
  • Promote quality and workmanship throughout shop operations, maintain an organized inspection area, and perform other duties assigned by management.
  • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, drill presses, or related equipment when inspection verification, controlled rework, or machining support is required.
  • Evaluate whether nonconforming features can be safely reworked while preserving drawing requirements and remaining machining allowance.
  • Recommend practical rework methods to shop leadership; do not perform unauthorized rework or change acceptance requirements.
  • Use indicators and accepted shop practices to align and verify workpieces, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Recognize common machining defects, including chatter, taper, bell-mouth, out-of-roundness, poor concentricity, burrs, damaged threads, incorrect surface finish, and distortion.
  • Stop or place work on hold when continued processing could produce additional nonconforming parts.
