About The Position

The Third-Party QAQC Manager will oversee all mechanical and electrical quality assurance and quality control activities for a hyperscale mission critical data center construction project. This individual will act as an independent quality representative supporting the owner, ensuring all installations comply with project specifications, industry standards, manufacturer requirements, and commissioning readiness expectations. The QAQC Manager will work closely with construction management teams, subcontractors, commissioning agents, and owner representatives to identify deficiencies early, drive corrective actions, and support successful system turnover. This role requires extensive experience in mission critical/data center construction environments with a strong understanding of MEP systems, turnover processes, startup procedures, and commissioning coordination.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in QAQC, construction management, or commissioning within mission critical/data center environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems in hyperscale data centers.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and turnover processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Familiarity with industry standards including NEC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience using QAQC/document management platforms such as Procore, BIM360, ACC, or similar systems.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced construction environments with aggressive schedules.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections of mechanical systems including chilled water, HVAC, piping, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and associated infrastructure.
  • Verify installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, submittts, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Review and validate pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and TAB activities.
  • Monitor welding quality, piping supports, valve installations, and equipment alignment.
  • Coordinate pre-functional inspections and mechanical system readiness for commissioning.
  • Inspect medium voltage and low voltage electrical installations for compliance with project standards and NEC requirements.
  • Validate conduit routing, cable tray installation, grounding/bonding, and equipment terminations.
  • Review electrical testing documentation including megger testing, torque reports, continuity testing, and startup records.
  • Support energization planning and turnover readiness activities.
  • Coordinate with electrical subcontractors and commissioning teams during testing and startup events.
  • Lead and manage all field QAQC activities throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, quality tracking logs, and deficiency reports.
  • Identify construction deficiencies and drive resolution with subcontractors and project teams.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation and turnover records.
  • Participate in owner walks, commissioning meetings, and progress reviews.
  • Support project closeout and final turnover documentation packages.
  • Ensure compliance with all project safety standards and site procedures.
  • Provide daily and weekly reporting on quality metrics, trends, and outstanding issues.
  • Collaborate with commissioning agents to support integrated systems testing and final acceptance.
