About The Position

This role is responsible for implementing quality control processes and testing to meet Safeway quality standards and ensure products are within specification. The technician will evaluate trends from test results, develop plans to correct deficiencies, and communicate these plans to employees and management. They will also ensure adherence to Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety, and utilize laboratory supplies related to plant sanitation and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related science) or equivalent experience (Minimum 2 years in similar role)
  • Knowledge of Microbiological, Chemical and Physical, Organoleptic Testing
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good oral/written communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in window based PC programs.
  • Time Management
  • Quick to learn new techniques
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification.
  • Evaluate trends from test results and develop plans to correct deficiencies and communicate these plans to employees, and management.
  • Ensure Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety is adhered to.
  • Utilize laboratory supplies/items relating to plant sanitation/safety.
  • Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance.
