About The Position

Responsible for performing the required tests on all production batches made in the mixing facility to ensure that only Quality material is released to our customers. This includes comparing results to specifications, approving conforming material, and notifying supervisors of non-compliance or trends. The role involves operating various testing equipment, maintaining records, and ensuring the quality and traceability of materials. Additionally, the position requires adherence to quality management systems, safety regulations, and general lab upkeep.

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Data Entry experience
  • Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Must be available and able to work overtime during week and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Perform required tests on all production batches.
  • Compare test results to required specifications.
  • Approve conforming material and notify supervisor of non-compliance.
  • Observe test data and notify QA Supervisor and/or production supervisor of trends.
  • Perform Rheologic MDR testing and Viscometer MV2000 Testing.
  • Perform Durometer testing: prepare buttons, test for hardness, compare to specifications, and log results.
  • Use braebender to make ribbons for dispersion testing, retain ribbons, and archive monthly.
  • Use microscope to investigate dispersion issues/Quality concerns.
  • Operate Densitech, log results, and retain records.
  • Test all extrusion material after tubing process, logging batch numbers for traceability.
  • Maintain quality records of all test data results from batches mixed, archive monthly, and retain for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Create and retain records of all non-conformance material and retest results.
  • Test and maintain records of Alert batches.
  • Test and distribute records of all lab developmental batches.
  • Perform daily correlations of lab test equipment.
  • Perform weekly maintenance of lab test equipment to ensure calibration.
  • Conduct shelf-life studies as requested (minimum of 1 per compound per year).
  • Complete retesting of all customer concerns, MDR’s, MV’s, T5’s, Ribbons, Densities, and Durometers.
  • Perform additional testing as requested on LTR’s submitted by Chemists.
  • Follow procedures to ensure Quality and Customer Satisfaction, with an informal understanding of IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness of the lab.
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Workers Safety Insurance Act, and the Cooper Standard Automotive Health, Safety and Environment Procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
