About The Position

The QA Incident Analyst investigates quality control incidents and complaints involving products sold at Whole Foods Market, including Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores' (WWGS) Private Brands products, branded items, prepared foods, fresh-pack, and made-in-store. This role works with various teams such as the Private Brands team, Category Management, Brokers, Suppliers, Distributors, WWGS’s Ops Areas, and stores to resolve product-related issues. The analyst is responsible for issuing product withdrawals and recalls as needed, monitoring public and private recall notifications, and contributing to on-call coverage, which includes evenings and weekends. The position ensures that internal and external stakeholders understand WWGS’s quality and incident management expectations, and gathers data to support reporting and regulatory requirements for recalls and incidents.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
  • Experience interacting with local food safety regulators
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in overseeing and managing projects and deadlines
  • In-depth ability to analyze incidents and claims, process information from multiple sources, review and analyze data and regulatory requirements, hypothesize, and draw conclusions.
  • Communicates structured information in a clear, concise, and organized fashion.
  • Participates in and provides senior-level support to team and cross-functional projects.
  • Advanced understanding of standard project management methodologies and requirements.
  • Experience with product quality control incidences, complaints, and food safety issues.
  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as senior investigator for quality control incidents and complaints.
  • Leads efforts with Supplier QA Analysts and leadership to determine course of action on product quality control incidences, complaints, and food safety issues.
  • Leads planning, execution, and evaluation of corrective actions to resolve identified incidences, complaints, and issues.
  • Ensures provision of accurate and timely investigative reports; monitors reports for patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Leads collaborative efforts to analyze product data, perform testing, identify trends, and determine the root cause of systemic issues.
  • Monitors recall / withdrawal communications and tracking to ensure stakeholders are well informed and up-to-date with progress and outcomes.
  • May act as the initial global contact for regulatory officials, Team Leaders, and global and regional teams regarding recalls, quality control complaints, and internal cross-departmental incidences.
  • Works with Team Leader on requirements and timeline for FoodLogiQ to ensure timely and efficient progress.
  • Continually monitors efficiency and performance of recall / withdrawal / incident processes and data systems.
  • Researches and investigates new and emerging food safety regulations and communicates them to the appropriate Team Leaders and Team Members.
  • Reviews and interprets federal and state regulations, as applicable (CFR, FDA, USDA, CSPC.).
  • May provide advice and guidance to the less experienced Team Members.
