About The Position

This is not a purely managerial QA role — the ideal candidate is still deeply technical, writes and maintains automation themselves, and leads by example while also directing an offshore QA team embedded in our Agile/Scrum delivery model. The role involves staying hands-on with day-to-day testing activities, designing and building a robust test automation framework, guiding and mentoring an offshore QA team, acting as the QA voice within Scrum ceremonies, driving the adoption of AI-assisted testing tools, building and maintaining a CI/CD-integrated automated regression suite, collaborating closely with Development, DevOps, and Product teams, establishing QA metrics and reporting, and owning API testing, performance/load testing, and data pipeline validation.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience leading QA for cloud/edge platforms or SaaS products.
• Strong, current, real-world experience with Playwright for UI and API automation (not just familiarity — production usage expected).
• Experience testing containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology and experience operating as an embedded QA lead within Scrum teams.
• Experience managing or closely directing an offshore/distributed QA team.
• Strong grasp of API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, or similar) and test framework design.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools (k6, JMeter, or similar).

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with AI-powered test automation tools (e.g., Playwright's AI/codegen capabilities, AI-based test authoring or maintenance tools) to speed up test creation and reduce automation maintenance overhead.
• Exposure to BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow) for collaborative test-case definition with Product/Dev.
• Experience with shift-left / risk-based testing approaches and contract testing (Pact) for microservices.
• Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Datadog, Application Insights) to correlate test failures with production telemetry.
• Experience testing WITSML/industrial IoT data protocols or oilfield/edge-device data pipelines is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Azure cloud services and cost-aware test environment management.
• Experience with AI-assisted test generation/maintenance tools to accelerate automation coverage.

Responsibilities

• Stay hands-on with day-to-day testing activities — writing test plans, executing test cases, and directly contributing to automation, not just overseeing it.
• Design, build, and maintain a robust test automation framework, with strong, real-world hands-on experience in Playwright as the primary tool.
• Guide, mentor, and manage an offshore QA team, setting priorities, reviewing work, and ensuring consistent quality standards across time zones.
• Act as the QA voice within Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and drive QA best practices within an Agile delivery model.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted testing tools and techniques to accelerate test creation, maintenance, and coverage — e.g., AI-generated test scripts, self-healing locators, and AI-assisted test case/data generation — to modernize and speed up the QA process.
• Build and maintain a CI/CD-integrated automated regression suite, ensuring fast, reliable feedback loops for every release.
• Collaborate closely with Development, DevOps, and Product teams to embed quality early in the SDLC (shift-left testing).
• Establish QA metrics and reporting (test coverage, defect leakage, automation ROI) to give engineering leadership visibility into product quality.
• Own API testing, performance/load testing, and data pipeline validation as needed for cloud and edge components.
