About The Position

We are seeking a QA Engineer to join BlueThrone, a company that scales indie mobile products into global businesses. With a significant user base and revenue, we operate at scale while remaining lean and focused. Our team consists of builders who are passionate about craft, ownership, and impact. The role involves working on a fast-growing social discovery mobile app primarily for teenagers, designed to foster connections in a safe and engaging environment. This product is highly interactive, UI-driven, and features real-time user interactions. Given its young and active user base, quality, stability, and trust are paramount. As a member of a small, product-focused, and fast-moving team with minimal formal documentation, the QA Engineer will be deeply involved in understanding product behavior, identifying gaps early, and shaping quality standards. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will own quality end-to-end, collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and product partners to ensure smooth, intuitive, and reliable releases. We are looking for someone who thinks like a user, asks critical questions, and takes genuine ownership of product quality.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in QA, with a strong focus on mobile testing
  • At least 2 years of hands-on web testing experience
  • Hands-on experience testing complex, consumer-facing mobile apps
  • Experience working with data-heavy, feature-rich products
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Postman, Swagger (or similar)
  • A sharp eye for detail, paired with strong prioritization skills
  • An ownership mindset - you don’t wait to be told what to test
  • You ask great questions, raise flags early, and love clear communication
  • You care about the product, not just the test plan

Nice To Haves

  • Enjoy ownership without heavy process or bureaucracy
  • Like working closely with teams but also value focused, independent work
  • Can zoom out to see the product as a whole, then zoom in on details
  • See QA as a strategic role, not a support function
  • Want to work on a product with real users, real scale, and real momentum
  • Care deeply about getting things right - and improving them over time

Responsibilities

  • Owning product quality across mobile and web
  • Designing and running test scenarios that reflect real user behavior
  • Performing regression, smoke, and exploratory testing
  • Validating APIs and integrations to ensure smooth end-to-end flows
  • Identifying edge cases, documenting issues clearly, and following them through
  • Improving testing practices as the product and team scale
  • Collaborating closely across teams - QA here is part of the build process, not an afterthought
