About The Position

The QA Analyst works with developers and chemists to ensure quality assurance requirements are captured in appropriate electronic formats, with an emphasis on traceability and validation of the laboratory information management system (LIMS), STARLIMS. The position revises and improves Python code and data operations for efficiency and LIMS integration; develops, revises, and verifies quality-program standards based on EPA chemistry test methods; and reviews or designs features to support efficient laboratory operations. The analyst reviews new or modified programs, documentation, and specifications to assess whether they meet user requests and applicable guidelines, and recommends improvements or corrections to programmers. The role also includes in-depth reviews of chemistry data packages for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Lead & Healthy Homes, EPA, and FDA, including packages associated with the Laboratory Flexible Funding Model grant. Additional work includes reviewing chemistry procedures for deviations from published methods, evaluating chemical inventory systems, validating Excel spreadsheets used for analytical calculations, and reviewing annual competencies for 25 chemists across approximately 60 methods.
