This role involves operating PVD coating furnaces to coat carbide and Cermet inserts on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

High School diploma or GED.

Ability to solve furnace-related problems using learned knowledge, reasoning skills, and by consulting supervisors and co-workers.

2 year technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate PVD coating furnaces to coat carbide and Cermet inserts.
Load and unload fixtures with product into furnaces, ensuring correct setup and cleanliness.
Enter product weights, coating cycle information, and other data into the computer.
Start and monitor the coating process.
Clean fixtures and base plates between heats.
Ensure adequate gas supply and replace gas tanks as needed.
Verify targets and melts are adequate for the process.
Perform tests on standards to ensure coating thickness and adhesion meet specifications.
Perform batch cleanings at proper intervals.
Operate other equipment, including parts blasters, as needed.
Set up and separate product.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
Follow the inspection control plan, ensuring product is processed according to routings and specifications.
Meet daily departmental production goals.
Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts.
