About The Position

The client is seeking a Purchasing Manager for a manufacturing company in the St. Louis, MO area. This role is responsible for all aspects of purchasing, including sourcing raw materials and specialized components for custom machinery engineering and building. This is a contract-to-permanent position and is a long-term need for the client. The position requires on-site work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in business or supply chain preferred or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in purchasing or buying experience in a manufacturing, automation or heavy metal fabrication environment
• Familiarity with machining, fabrication, welding consumables (motors, drives, electrical components, sensors etc.)
• Experience with ERP/MRP software in a job shop environment
• Experience reading and understanding technical drawings
• Experience with negotiation
• Strong experience with identifying suppliers, managing vendor performance etc.
• Inventory control and planning experience
• Contract management experience - understand legal terms and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

• Sourcing raw materials
• Sourcing specialized components required to engineer and build custom machinery
• Estimating total cost of ownership of the product

• Working with engineering and Project Management teams to review BOMs and technical drawings for quoting and purchasing
