About The Position

The Purchasing Storeroom Attendant is responsible for managing storeroom merchandise and beverages, including stocking, issuing, and inventory. This role ensures products are properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated. The attendant will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment, and utilizing basic computer skills for the storekeeping program to record items received and issued. Essential duties include retrieving deliveries, filling requisitions, reporting discrepancies, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the storeroom, including refrigerators and freezers. The role may also involve assisting the receiving clerk, discarding trash, picking up supplies, and cleaning various areas. The position requires working indoors in a temperature-controlled storeroom, with the ability to work in refrigerators and freezers for extended periods, and exposure to loading dock noise and fumes. Walking through hotel corridors is also part of the work environment. Work hours are determined by the manager and may exceed 40 hours per week. The role requires basic computer knowledge, use of a telephone, and operation of equipment such as hand trucks, flatbed carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, trash compactors, and cardboard bailers. Physical demands include the ability to prioritize and organize workload, stand and walk for most of the shift, lift/carry/push/pull up to and more than 50 lbs, and bend, stoop, and reach. Effective verbal communication with employees, managers, and vendors, as well as phone communication, is necessary. Minimum qualifications include the ability to read, write, and count in English, Department of Health TB clearance, forklift training and certification, and a driver's license if operating a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and issue all storeroom merchandise and beverages.
  • Assist in inventory and report any shortages or spoilage to the manager.
  • Ensure that all products are properly stored, labeled, dated and rotated.
  • Clean and maintain work areas and equipment.
  • Input information on items received and issued into the storekeeping program.
  • Retrieve deliveries from loading dock in a timely manner.
  • Fill requisitions and deliver items to specified outlets, insuring products are correct and not spoiled or damaged.
  • Report any mechanical breakdown or projected failures to manager in a timely fashion.
  • Keep storeroom including freezer and refrigerators organized, clean and tidy.
  • Secure storeroom, freezers and refrigerators at the end of the day.
  • Complete daily assignments in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventories as assigned.
  • Properly discard cardboard boxes or other items designated for recycling.
  • Perform duties and operate equipment following safety procedures and policies.
  • Inform Chefs of any discrepancies or product that needs to be used on daily basis.
  • May assist receiving clerk.
  • Discard trash.
  • Pick-up supplies or merchandise.
  • Clean floors, walls, drains, gaskets and doors as needed.
