About The Position

The Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless procurement of goods and materials necessary for retail operations. This position is responsible for managing the entire purchasing cycle, from generating purchase orders to coordinating with suppliers and internal departments to maintain optimal inventory levels. The specialist will work closely with supply chain and materials management teams to forecast demand, negotiate quotations, and ensure timely delivery of products. By leveraging procurement software and material control techniques, the role aims to optimize costs while maintaining quality and compliance with company policies. Ultimately, the Purchasing Specialist contributes to the efficiency and profitability of the retail business by supporting a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within the retail industry or a similar environment.
• Familiarity with purchase order processing and materials management principles.
• Basic proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to manage supplier relationships and internal coordination.
• Expertise in purchase orders and supply chain management.

Responsibilities

• Create, process, and manage purchase orders to meet the operational needs of the retail business.
• Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive quotations and negotiate terms to secure favorable pricing and delivery schedules.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with materials management to ensure adequate stock without overstocking.
• Utilize procurement software to track orders, manage supplier information, and generate reports for management review.
• Work closely with the supply chain team to align purchasing activities with sales orders and overall demand planning.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process.
• Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to purchase orders, deliveries, or invoicing in a timely manner.
