About The Position

The Purchasing & Procurement Specialist is responsible for purchasing materials, components, and/or services required to support business operations while ensuring competitive pricing, supplier performance, quality, and on-time delivery. This role will actively manage purchase orders, supplier relationships, negotiations, and cost-reduction opportunities, with a strong focus on Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and overall procurement performance. The ideal candidate will have 3–4 years of purchasing or procurement experience, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or a related role.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers on pricing, terms, lead times, and commercial agreements.
  • Working knowledge of Purchase Price Variance (PPV), cost analysis, and procurement savings.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage purchase orders, suppliers, and material requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to analyze quotations, cost drivers, and supplier proposals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commercial judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or engineered-products environment.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing, RFQs, supplier negotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Familiarity with supplier scorecards and KPIs such as PPV, on-time delivery, quality, lead time, and cost savings.
  • Knowledge of inventory management, material planning, and supply chain fundamentals.
  • Experience working with domestic and international suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day procurement of assigned materials, components, products, and/or services.
  • Issue and maintain purchase orders while ensuring pricing, quantities, delivery dates, and contractual terms are accurate.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, minimum order quantities, freight terms, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage Purchase Price Variance (PPV), identifying cost increases, savings opportunities, and root causes of unfavorable variances.
  • Develop and execute cost-reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, competitive bidding, value analysis, sourcing alternatives, and other procurement strategies.
  • Obtain and analyze supplier quotations and conduct price comparisons to support sourcing decisions.
  • Support supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships while addressing delivery, pricing, quality, and service issues.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and proactively resolve shortages, late deliveries, and supply disruptions.
  • Partner with Planning and Operations teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels and support production or customer requirements.
  • Analyze purchasing data, spend, market conditions, and supplier performance to identify sourcing and savings opportunities.
  • Participate in RFQ/RFP activities and support competitive sourcing events.
  • Work with Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing issues, and purchase order variances.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other departments on supplier changes, new products, cost improvement projects, and material requirements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, supplier performance, working capital, and cost reduction.
