About The Position

A well-established, mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization in the San Rafael area is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join its team on a direct-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with healthcare purchasing experience who is passionate about supporting quality patient care through strategic sourcing and vendor management. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all procurement and purchasing activities for the organization. This individual will oversee vendor relationships, contract negotiations, purchasing policies, inventory procurement, and cost-saving initiatives while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational purchasing requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of healthcare procurement or purchasing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement systems, purchasing processes, reporting, and vendor management.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Experience supervising purchasing staff.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working for a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
  • Experience with the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
  • Experience purchasing pharmaceuticals and vaccines.
  • Experience working with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or Procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all procurement activities for materials, supplies, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, equipment, and services.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that improve quality, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier relationships.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements with vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and organizational purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing policies, procedures, and authorization processes.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify purchasing needs and obtain competitive pricing.
  • Collaborate with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) to maximize purchasing efficiencies and savings.
  • Prepare purchasing reports, analyze spending trends, and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage vendor performance, including quality, responsiveness, and on-time delivery metrics.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the department budget.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Train and support staff on purchasing policies and best practices.
  • Supervise purchasing personnel and ensure adherence to procurement standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
