About The Position

One of my top Aerospace & Defense clients is on a major growth track — projected to double market share over the next 3–5 years — and they need a hands-on Purchasing Manager to run procurement, lead Buyers, and drive supplier performance in a highly regulated environment. This is a high-impact leadership role: you’ll be the person who keeps manufacturing moving — on time, on cost, on quality.

Requirements

Expert-level experience in Purchasing / Supply Chain within Aerospace & Defense
Proven people leadership (leading Buyers, setting KPIs, building accountability)
Strong in contract negotiation + supplier relationship management
Comfortable in manufacturing environments with fast-moving priorities
ERP/MRP experience: SAP, Oracle, IFS (any is fine—strength matters)

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s (Supply Chain/Business/Engineering)
Certifications like APICS/CPIM, CPSM, or PMP are a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead the procurement function end-to-end (materials, components, services)
Manage & develop a team of Buyers / Procurement Specialists
Build supplier strategy: negotiate pricing, terms, LTAs, contracts
Drive supplier performance: OTD, quality, responsiveness + corrective actions
Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning to protect schedules
Improve ERP/MRP parameters to balance inventory + lead times
Run cost-reduction initiatives: negotiations, value engineering, efficiency
Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO, FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, CPSR and flow-downs
Identify & mitigate supplier risk (capacity, single-source, geopolitical, financial)
