In addition, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for the procurement of non-inventory items that are needed to run the facility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 or more years of purchasing management experience
  • Basic Computer Skills including MS Word and Excel
  • General experience with working with ERP purchasing systems
  • Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning systems
  • Fluent in English
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Able to interpret purchasing contracts, engineering drawings and specifications

Responsibilities

  • Daily review of the material requirement and bar stock requirement reports to determine purchasing requirements
  • Place purchase orders for items with suppliers, including negotiate pricing, determine quantity and required delivery
  • Attend weekly production meetings to report on purchasing issues
  • Create and maintain Approved Supplied List
  • Train and manage Purchasing Assistant
  • Manage purchase orders with Suppliers, including discrepancies related to price, quantity, etc.
  • Manage and resolve any supplier defective material issues
  • Any other assignments as required by the Materials Manager
