The Purchasing Intern supports multiple levels of procurement within our Global Procurement and Supply Chain (GPSC) teams. This position has a Spring/Summer 2027 start date. YOUR IMPACT: These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. Support commodity managers with negotiations, supplier selection, pricing, forecasts, and performance management, including quarterly scorecard reviews and corrective actions. Learn how component pricing connects to standard cost, EAC, and broader financial decisions. Take ownership of certain suppliers and actively manage their pricing with mentorship. Visit suppliers to understand their manufacturing processes, capabilities, capacity, and potential constraints. Work with tactical buyers to understand how purchased components flow into the manufacturing plant, including work in SAP. Help coordinate part-number changes, cut-ins, and Bill of Material (BOM) updates. Manage EDI, supplier-portal forecasts, and coordinated communications to suppliers regarding forecast changes, deadlines, and updates. Identify and implement AI and digital tools that can improve purchasing-team efficiency. Learn how purchasing participates in new-product development, from early concepts through sourcing and production. Administer RFQs by sending packages to suppliers, collecting quotations, and comparing pricing, lead times, and commercial terms. Maintain accurate pricing on purchase orders and component standard costs to align with finance and budgeting.
