About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The primary duties of a purchasing assistant involve working closely with Sanford departments to process orders requested by end users. This role is responsible for maintaining purchase orders, addressing purchasing issues until products are delivered, received, and invoices are paid to close the purchase order. The position involves the procurement of items through the creation of Purchase orders submitted to suppliers, monitoring and expediting orders as requested. It also includes resolving shipment errors with suppliers and striving to achieve maximum value in the purchase of materials and services per established contracts. Negotiation of terms, price, and conditions may be required in the event of a non-established contract, covering the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services, and handling shipping and returns for credit with assigned categories. The role requires the ability to work and communicate with all levels of internal staff, external manufacturers, and distributors regarding ordering, receiving, payment, or returns.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient in ERP software.
  • Strong communication skills, in both written and verbal forms.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in purchasing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor returns.
