About The Position

Workforce Solutions is partnering with a family-owned manufacturing company in Madison, WI, known for its strong culture and long-tenured workforce, to find a Purchasing Assistant. This role is crucial for supporting the company's purchasing and procurement operations. The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for sourcing materials, supplies, equipment, and services essential for manufacturing and daily business functions. Key duties include obtaining vendor quotes, coordinating deliveries, nurturing supplier relationships, managing purchasing records, processing invoices, and resolving vendor-related issues. This position collaborates with internal teams to ensure timely material availability for production schedules and project timelines. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, adept at managing multiple priorities, and proactive in identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, administrative, or related experience.
  • Experience working with vendors, purchase orders, freight coordination, and inventory management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Manufacturing or industrial purchasing experience is a plus.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, MRP, or accounting software preferred.
