About The Position

Compiles and maintains records of quantity, cost, and type of material received, stocked, and issued, and prepares material requisitions by performing the following duties. This role works to meet the goals and objectives of Material Management consistent with the institutional vision, mission, goals, and objectives. It involves responding to contemporary Health Care and Material Management trends that may have an impact on institutional material needs, and assisting in departmental goals and objectives. The position accepts, fosters, and uses precepts of continuous quality improvement within the department and among other institutional departments as appropriate. It also recommends new programs as the market changes drive the materials needed to enhance the Health Care of the patient. Communication with colleagues, peers, and superiors is essential through succinct expression and receptive listening. The role effectively uses quality improvement decision-making skills that incorporate ideas and input of others, and establishes mutual trust and respect by dealing with others in a fair manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, managers, supervisors and administration.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Analyzing needs and product requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years’ experience in healthcare
  • 1 year experience in materials management.

Responsibilities

  • Moves cases and boxes to various departments within the institution.
  • Labels medical and surgical supplies with appropriate charge labels.
  • Maintains accurate inventory control in General Stores and throughout the institution.
  • Fills requisitions by moving supplies to appropriate departments within the institution as requested and/or needed.
  • Routinely checks supplies in General Stores for outdated materials.
  • Stocks shelves in General Stores of Medical, Surgical and Office Supplies.
  • Checks current invoice prices with prices listed on inventory control files.
  • Assists in annual physical inventory of medical and surgical supplies in General Stores.
  • Keeps accurate and complete inventory of charge labels.
  • Compares information on requisitions, invoices, and shipping notices to material received or issued to verify accuracy of order.
  • Compiles and maintains inventory of material received, stocked, and issued.
  • Prepares requests for procurement of material.
  • Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
