About The Position

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for soliciting and analyzing vendor bids for new home plans and plan revisions, accurately maintaining pricing comparisons, and managing monthly budget reporting. This role supports value engineering initiatives, plan pricing, and the review and evaluation of cost estimates to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions. This role is located at our Empire Homes office in Houston, TX 77070.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Business, Accounting, or related field
3+ years’ experience in the new home/residential construction industry; specifically within the purchasing or estimating function
Knowledge and experience in homebuilder accounting and purchasing software systems (NewStar and BuildPro a plus)
Knowledge of construction trades and building materials, thorough in plans reading, understanding and knowledge of the entire residential construction process
Strong proficiency in MS Excel

Responsibilities

Accurately input contract pricing into accounting and purchasing software as well as audit data input to ensure accuracy of data
Assure all contract documents are executed and returned within prescribed time frames, process vendors and vendor contracts, track vendor contracts
Qualify all proposals to ensure that bids are aligned and consistent and include all specifications, scopes, and details as well as create bid comparisons
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and scope documents to prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate pricing
Prepare and distribute bid packages for new products and projects and prepare project estimates (feasibilities) and assist in establishing proformas
Creatively source new products to help lower cost and improve quality/aesthetic appeal of production homes
Assist in development and updates for detailed scope of work for trades
