About The Position

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for selecting and qualifying vendors for supplies and outsourced manufacturing needs to meet company production goals. Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate complex commercial or technical information.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with G-Suite, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Aptitude to learn and use ETO/ERP and EPICOR software.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage multi-task work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work proactively and independently on a broad variety of projects.
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet job requirements.
  • Able to travel in the course of work approximately 10% of the time.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing or related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment, supplies, or services and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, equipment and services.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or materials.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Procurement of materials, equipment or services that support the company’s business efforts. This includes the entire lifecycle of the subcontract including defining the requirements, researching opportunities, negotiating with sources, writing subcontracts, awarding subcontracts and closeout when the subcontract terms are completed.
  • Ensures that the subcontract complies with any applicable state or labor requirements, as well as company policies. Be mindful of business goals and negotiate the best prices for products and services while monitoring any associated risks.
  • Travel as required to evaluate suppliers for capabilities, quality, and commitment to company needs.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
