About The Position

As a Purchasing Agent Supervisor with the Department of Human Services, you help ensure that facilities across the state have what they need to operate safely and efficiently. This role offers the chance to guide the skilled purchasing team of the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS) and support vital programs serving youth. You help shape smooth, cost effective procurement processes that keep daily operations moving. This position lets you make a meaningful impact through leadership and service! This position oversees complex purchasing and warehouse operations that support multiple juvenile justice facilities across the state.

Requirements

  • One year as a Purchasing Agent (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Four years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing activities for goods, services, and commodities across all BJJS facilities
  • Review purchase requests and verify that all procurement actions follow established regulations and guidelines
  • Work with vendors to inspect goods, resolve concerns, and support contract compliance
  • Supervise warehouse operations and inventory processes for Loysville Youth Development Center and associated facilities
  • Direct the work of purchasing agents and warehouse staff to support efficient operations
