The brake press operator is responsible for handling all machine press operations for the organization and may be required to operate other machines in the fabrication department. This role involves setting up and operating brake press and/or other machines to support operations, including the movement and positioning of workpieces. The operator will select appropriate feed rates, cutting speeds, depths of cut, and tooling. Responsibilities also include verifying that finished work conforms to standards, occasionally machining plastics or non-metal products, and detecting/reporting defective materials or questionable conditions. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area and adhering to safety procedures are crucial. The role requires performing inspections of machined products, documenting results, and completing necessary paperwork. Assistance in other work areas such as fabrication, lay-up, and infiltration may be required, along with other duties as assigned. Material handling, including forklift operations, hand trucks, and lifting, pulling, and pushing, is also part of the job.
