Requirements

  • Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses – ANSI Z87.1, Gloves- ANSI Cut 3 4544, Sleeves- ANSI Cut 3 4544, Foot Protection, Steel Toe – ASTM F2413-11, Ear protection.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
  • Visual and aural acuity.

  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate a punch press to cut specified metal sheets to defined specifications.
  • Set and operate a range of metal fabrication equipment to cut, notch, and shape metal parts within standard or accepted practice limits.
  • Work from job packets, bill of materials (BOM), blueprints, drawings, and/or production schedules.
  • Perform machine startup and shutdown procedures on punch press equipment.
  • Position work pieces onto the table using hands or a crane, employing a vacuum system to hold the piece.
  • Layout cuts on the computer and select tooling based on metal thickness and type.
  • Interpret job information to determine specific material requirements.
  • Layout operations to maximize material utilization.
  • Label completed parts with the appropriate part number.
  • Remove chips and debris from parts and the staging table.
  • Determine the sequence of operations for each process and edit programs accordingly.
  • Rack and move pieces to the staging area.
  • Verify the conformance of the first piece to specifications using calipers, protractors, gauges, and measuring tape.
  • Periodically gauge work pieces during the run to ensure settings are maintained and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform quality checks, complete checklists, verify counts, record time per job, and ensure compliance with production schedules.
  • Submit production documentation as required.
  • Stage completed parts for movement or move them to subsequent operations to maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Take responsibility for the physical inventory of materials.
  • Request material reorders as necessary.
  • Perform or assist with any operations required to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Consistently operate in accordance with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in various meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and stay informed about new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
