This role involves performing setup and operation of a punch press to cut specified metal sheets and operating a range of metal fabrication equipment to cut, notch, and shape metal parts within standard or accepted practice limits.

Requirements

  • Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses – ANSI Z87.1, Gloves- ANSI Cut 3 4544, Sleeves- ANSI Cut 3 4544, Foot Protection, Steel Toe – ASTM F2413-11
  • Frequently push with up to 120 lbs. of force.
  • Occasionally push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
  • Visual and aural acuity
  • Pre-employment drug test and background check.

  • Experience with fiber laser cutting machine.

Responsibilities

  • Work from job packets, bill of materials (BOM), blueprints, drawings, and/or production schedule.
  • Perform machine startup and shutdown procedures on punch press equipment.
  • Position work piece onto table with hands or crane, using vacuum system to hold piece in place.
  • Layout cuts on computer and select tooling according to thickness and type of metal.
  • Interpret job information to determine specific material requirements.
  • Layout operations to maximize material utilization.
  • Label completed parts with appropriate part numbers.
  • Remove chips and drop from parts and staging table.
  • Determine sequence of operation for each process and edit program based on sequence.
  • Rack and move pieces to staging area.
  • Verify conformance of first piece to specifications using calipers, protractors, gauges, and measuring tape.
  • Gauge work pieces randomly through run to ensure maintenance of settings and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform quality checks, complete check lists, verify counts, record time per job and ensure compliance with production schedules.
  • Submit production documentation as required.
  • Stage completed parts for movement or move to subsequent operations to maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Take responsibility for the physical inventory of materials.
  • Request material reorders as necessary.
  • Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
