Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising the operation, repair, and maintenance of all wastewater pumping stations, related equipment, and pressurized lines. This position is assigned to pay grade R32. The role involves developing plans and programming, formulating budgetary data, assigning job duties, conducting employee evaluations, preparing contractual obligations, developing educational curriculum, and reporting parameters related to the overall programming of the office. The supervisor will assist the Utility Collection System Superintendent with the daily operations of over 150 highly technical sewer pumping stations. Responsibilities include overseeing chemical dosing contracts, purchasing parts, and coordinating service for all pumping stations. The position also acts as a custodian for maintaining fleet vehicles for the division, producing required reports for state and local authorities, and preparing and monitoring annual budgets. Reviewing requisitions to ensure correct account expenditures and proper bidding procedures are followed, and reviewing Maximo work orders for accuracy before closing are also key duties. This role serves as a liaison with engineers and contractors for design, construction, and operation of multiple assets, and instructs work crews in the repair and maintenance of pump stations. A strong mechanical and electrical background is required for troubleshooting and repairing highly technical equipment. The supervisor will review system parameters for problem areas, act as backup ORC to the Utility Collections System Superintendent, and oversee all operations within the Utility Collections System during their absence. Field maintenance and management of the SCADA and Telemetry System, developing programs to enhance system operability, and monitoring compliance with safety rules and standards are also part of the role. The position is responsible for ensuring the CERT team is properly trained, conducts practice, and holds current pulmonary function & fit tests required by OSHA. Maintaining the confined space entry rescue team and equipment apparatus for safe operations, operating heavy equipment and trucks, and coordinating field personnel during disaster situations are also required. Overseeing equipment repair and maintenance, approving requisitions, researching equipment & history, and being accountable for inventory/property management are essential. This position is a member of the organization management team and is responsible for demonstrating and holding others accountable to the CFPUA values. It requires working in partnership with their own department and all other CFPUA departments toward achieving organizational goals, and creating a culture of belonging and inclusion. The role works with the Human Resources department to ensure staff completes all relevant employment training and ensures compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures, as well as federal and state employment law. Exercises a purchasing authority up to $1,000 without supervisor approval. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
