About The Position

A major Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center in the Camden, NJ area is seeking a contract Respiratory Therapist (RT) specializing in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT). The therapist will perform complex pulmonary diagnostic testing, specialized challenge protocols, and exercise evaluations within an advanced outpatient and inpatient pulmonary laboratory setting.

Requirements

• Experience Range: 2 to 20 years of clinical Respiratory Therapy / PFT lab experience.
• Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting [REQUIRED].
• Active New Jersey State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License.
• NBRC Certification (RRT or CRT; CPFT/RPFT credentials preferred).
• Active BLS Certification (AHA).

Nice To Haves

• Experience conducting exercise stress/CPET testing [PREFERRED].
• Experience conducting methacholine challenge testing [PREFERRED].

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostic PFT procedures, including spirometry, lung volumes (plethysmography/gas dilution), diffusing capacity (DLCO), and arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling/analysis.
• Conduct methacholine challenge testing and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) according to clinical protocols and physician orders.
• Provide clear guidance and instruction to patients to ensure optimal, clinically valid test results across varied age groups and disease states.
• Perform daily calibration, quality control checks, sanitation, and troubleshooting on specialized PFT lab equipment.
