The City of Annapolis is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hardworking individual to fill the entry-level role of Public Works Maintenance Worker I. Under the immediate supervision of an Equipment Operator III or Utility Supervisor, this position performs a wide variety of essential manual tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, and construction of municipal infrastructure. Incumbents will work within a well-defined framework of established safety and operating procedures, gaining valuable cross-training across multiple divisions, including streets, storm drains, water/sewer systems, city facilities, and parks. As a flexibly staffed classification, this role serves as an excellent gateway to a long-term, skilled career in municipal public works. Although individual positions may be assigned to specialized work units, incumbents in this job class are expected to be cross-trained and fully functional in all areas of public works activities and assignments. Positions within this job class are flexibly staffed. The City of Annapolis Department of Public Works is currently filling multiple vacancies for this role within two primary areas: the Streets Division and the Water Division.
