About The Position

Operate construction equipment for routine maintenance and reconstruction tasks on county gravel roads in the Gill area. This position will report directly to Gill. The role involves 80% field work, 10% administration, and 10% other duties as assigned. Field work includes operating a motor grader and other heavy equipment for gravel road maintenance and snow removal, requiring a good working knowledge of procedures and the ability to work independently. Administrative tasks involve basic computer skills for reporting data and effective communication. The position also requires availability for extraordinary hours during emergencies, potential lead worker responsibilities, and assistance with snow operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two years of heavy or light equipment operation including motor grader experience.
  • Valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License, Class A with tanker endorsement required or ability to obtain license within specified time frame agreed upon hire.
  • Ability to be MSHA certified.
  • Able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one situations with the public, subordinates, and supervisors.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Pass a background check prior to employment start date.
  • Pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date.
  • Participate in random substance use screening.
  • Pass a physical demands evaluation post offer screen compatible to this position.
